MRBC Worship Arts Academy

School of Dance Student Handbook

(Download handbook here.)

Welcome to our Family!

First of all, thank you so much for choosing the MRBC Worship Arts Academy School of Dance!  You are very special to us, and we are overjoyed that you are joining us in our inaugural year!  We do not take lightly that you are entrusting your child(ren) to us for instruction in dance training and more importantly for the opportunity that we have in leading them to grow in their worship of God.  We want our studio to be a welcoming place full of joy, hope, grace, and love where students look forward to coming and spending time each week as they develop not only their talents but also life-long friendships.

We believe that dance was created by God and should be used first and foremost as a form of worship.  Our desire is for each student to recognize that the skills they learn and the talents they develop are both gifts from God as well as gifts that are to be given back to God through their personal worship of Him and through opportunities to lead others to worship Him, and that they are also to be used as an avenue to share His love with others they meet through their dance experiences.

We also want each student to understand that his/her body is a special gift from God to be used for worship of Him, and that no matter the size, shape, or natural ability level God has created them with, His desire is that they use their body in a way that brings glory to Him.  Our goal is to be a safe place where he/she can be free to worship God and grow in their dance skills at their own pace according to the unique gifts God has given each of them.

We recognize that by placing your child(ren) in our school of dance, you are  endowing us with an incredible responsibility that we do not take lightly.  We consider it a great privilege to be entrusted with them for a short time each week, and we want you to know that we will strive to be a resource you can count on to help you as you raise up your child(ren) to know, love, and follow God throughout their lives.

May God bless you and your family.

Mission Statement

The Worship Arts Academy of Moffett Road Baptist Church exists to glorify God by equipping and training individuals in the area of worship and the arts, including music, dance, and visual arts, so as to build them up to serve the Lord and His church in both personal and corporate worship settings.  Our desire is to reclaim the arts for the Lord and to teach students how to “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord [they] will receive the inheritance as the reward for [they] are serving the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23-24).  We strive to instill a deeper love and devotion to Jesus Christ in each of our students, while discipling them in how to worship through their chosen art form.

Liability Waiver

  • Parent or legal guardian of student must agree to and sign the liability waiver printed on the registration form:

I waive all liability against Moffett Road Baptist Church and its staff, and the Worship Arts Academy School of Dance and its staff for any injury or loss of property sustained while participating in any classes or activities of the school.  In the event that a parent or the emergency contact is not available, I give permission to the staff of the Worship Arts Academy School of Dance to obtain emergency medical treatment for any illness or injury that may occur while the student is attending the school.”

Tuition & Fee Payment Policy

  • Monthly tuition is calculated by dividing the yearly tuition by 10.  This allows for a consistent monthly payment over the course of the year, though some months may have only two weeks of classes, due to holidays, while others will have five.  A calendar will be provided at the beginning of each school year to inform you of the weeks we will be closed.

  • Tuition is payable by credit card or by check made payable to “Moffett Road Baptist Church” or “MRBC” and is due by the 10th of each month.  A late fee of 20% of the total amount due on the account, if not paid by the 15th of the month.

  • Students with accounts that are more than 2 months delinquent will not be admitted to classes until the account is current.

  • There is a $35.00 NSF fee on ALL returned checks. After (2) returned checks, WAA has no choice but to ONLY accept credit cards, cash, or money orders for the account.

  • There will be a $35 recital fee per dancer due March 1, 2017.

  • Family rates are available to families with more than one child attending classes. The highest paying student pays full tuition and each additional child enrolled receives a 10% discount.

  • Currently enrolled CDC students will receive 10% discount.

  • No more than one discount per student.

Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be made except in the case of serious illness or injury as verified by a doctor's referral.

  • The Worship Arts Academy reserves the right to make final decisions on all refunds.

  • Recital fee refunds must be submitted in writing. The final date for any refunds is one month before the scheduled recital.

Make-Up Classes

  • We reserve a position in your child's class for your child whether or not your child is present until we are notified in writing of your desire to cancel enrollment.

  • For this reason, tuition will not be pro-rated for missed classes. Make –up classes must be scheduled within 30 days of the classes missed. If a Worship Arts Academy School of Dance holiday falls on your child’s class day (such as Labor Day or Martin Luther King Holiday), you may request that your child be given a make-up day in a similar class within that calendar month.

Dropping Enrollment

  • By signing the registration form, you have reserved your child's class time from the date of signature until the end of the dance year. You will be billed and are liable for the payment of tuition for those classes whether or not you child attends the class, until we are notified in writing of your desire to cancel your child's enrollment.

  • Written notification to cancel enrollment must be given one month prior to the next billing cycle.

Dress Code

  • Each dancer will be required to abide by a dress code to participate in class each week. Dress code includes a modest leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, and a ballet bun.

  • Hair must be pulled away from the face and secured in a neat bun for ballet class and in a ponytail or bun for worship dance class.

Waiting Area / Supervision of Students
